TRANSPORT SHIFT CONTROLLER – NEWARK nr NOTTINGHAM – MAJOR 3RD PARTY LOGISTICS COMPANY – SALARY CIRCA £20,500
Our client, a major third party logistics company, require a TRANSPORT SHIFT CONTROLLER to join their team in Newark near Nottingham
WHAT IS THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE TRANSPORT SHIFT CONTROLLER ROLE?
To deliver the day to day functions of the Transport operation ensuring all targets are met and the highest standards of quality, efficiency, accuracy, legal compliance, hygiene and Health & Safety are maintained to ensure all management and customer expectations in terms of SLA's are achieved.
WHAT ARE THE KEY DUTIES IN THE TRANSPORT SHIFT CONTROLLER ROLE - (NOT AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST)
Team Management - 1 direct report with circa 90+ drivers at their disposal operating a fleet of 40 tractors rising to circa 60-70 in peak and 200-300 trailers from one location at Newark. Adjust staffing levels to meet operational requirements as the daily operational needs of the business change. Execute and deliver the daily activity whilst ensuring a safe, secure, clean and fair work environment for team members Effectively communicate at all levels Respond to and deal with all disciplinary and grievance issues (complaints) in line with HR policy and authority levels. Ensure compliance to KPI's Ensure company policies are communicated, applied and enforced
WHAT SKILLS WILL YOU BRING TO THE TRANSPORT SHIFT CONTROLLER ROLE?
The ideal candidate will:
Have excellent PC skills Have good people management skills Be confident assuming responsibility of the operation during times of absence of Transport Shift Manager Have excellent communication skills with internal and external customers Be able to make decisions under pressure in tight timescales Have a good basic standard of education (GCSE English and Maths essential) Hold an international CPC (Desirable not essential) Have excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership, motivation and planning skills WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU?
